At Complete Home Care, we want to help you keep your home in the best possible condition. While maintaining your home involves a variety of tasks, one of the most important of these tasks is to regularly clean your gutters and repair them when necessary, as gutters play a vital role in protecting your home from water damage. In this article, we will go over a few tips on how to maintain your gutters and keep them in good working order.
- Cleaning- The first step in gutter maintenance is to keep the gutters clean. When gutters become clogged with debris, they can no longer channel water away from your foundation like they are supposed to, but they will instead overflow and spill the water out to the side. We recommend cleaning your gutters—or letting our experts do it for you—at least once every six months.
- Inspection- Another thing you should do in order to keep your gutters in good working order is regularly inspect them for problems. Periodically walk around the perimeter of your home and check that the gutters are level, securely fastened, and free of leaks.
- Repair- If your inspection reveals that you have problems with your gutters, you should arrange to have them repaired right away. While you might be able to take care of the issue yourself, we recommend having professional technicians handle gutter repairs, as you’ll get better results that way and spare yourself the time and effort involved in completing a DIY project.
